If your university does not offer a formal mentorship programme, a good way to find a mentor for yourself is to identify someone from your faculty, or residence (a house committee member, or sub-warden etc), or society who you feel you could get along well with and learn a lot from. Having an experienced advisor in your corner takes off the pressure of having to know it all and figure it out all on your own. She loves writing and is only getting started on this life long journey. I say this not as a critique because I have made good friendships that feel like family. For those of us who come from more communal backgrounds, I think it’s the hardest part of life here. She believes that books are the best escape you can find, and that if you feel a range of emotions while reading her stories - she succeeded.
